I seek some clarity on the status of the Academy of Medicine Malaysia (AMM), as you are a member of the Academy.
I understand the AMM is formed under the Society Act (1966). Seems to me that’s similar to the status of other civil societies and associations as is the MMA (correct me if I am wrong). Whereas the MMC is formed under the Medical Act (1971), which is a governmental entity.
In the case of AMS (Singapore), it is appointed by the MOHS to administer all medical specialty in-training exams in consultation with MOHS and Specialist Accreditation Board. Hence, the Academy can be deduced (my liberty) to fall under the armpit of MOHS.
So, is the AMM a governmental entity that has similar authoritative and enforcement capacity, or it is just a civil/professional society?
AMM has no power. Only MMC has authority and power
