dear sir,
can u plz guide me how to take mrcs, also any textbooks for mrcs part A plz give your advice…
Please visit the MRCS website.
Dear Dr,
I would like to have your expert opinion. Im Ariel and am doing my third posting in housemanship training. Im interested in taking Family Medicine. Can I have your opinions in how should I prepare for it now? Is the Australian paper be an extra point in applying the Master programme. Thanks for clearing my doubts. Im looking forward to your reply. Thank you.
Both Master’s and FRACGP from Australia is recognised as Family Physician Specialist degree. Academy of Family Physician conducts the FRACGP programme. You can view their website.
hello doctor.I live in Norway.got my medical degree from pakistan.i want to do mrcog now is it possible to do it right after graduation?i will study as much as possible.also i want to ask do i still have to give plab or norwegian entrance exam even after passing my mrcog part 1.
thank you.
You need to ask Norwegian medical council for advise. You can sit for MRCOG part 1 after 1 year of graduation.
hi doctor. If i had graduated from cyberjaya medical college, where can I continue my post graduate study to be a surgeon or specialist? Can i take it in singapore or australia? Is it any way that my medical degree can be recognised by singapore or australia?
Nope, you can’t go anywhere unless you sit and pass the respective country’s entrance exam with no guarantee that you will get a post.
so where can I continue my post graduate study? nope?
only in Malaysia
Dear Kevin,
Please read Dr Paga link at https://pagalavan.com/education/for-future-doctors-housemanship-medical-officer-and-postgraduate-training-part-3/
It is very informative.
Hi doctor , I’m a medical student in UAE and I would like to do my internship in Malaysia so I would be so happy if u can help me by giving me some information about it. Do they accept foreign medical students to do internship in Malaysia , do they pay?? n one important question is would you recommend us to do my internship there???
Malaysia do not provide internship for foreigners
Is internship same as housemanship????
Yes
So there’s no way that my friend n I do our housemanship over there??!!!! Would you plz recommend us any good countries who will accept foreign students housemanship ??? Thx
Yes, no chance unless you are married to a Malaysian. You can try Singapore if your degree is recognised there
Dr,
As regard foreigners who are married to Malaysians and wishes to do their internship in Malaysia, will they be paid salary or would they have to pay any fees to do their housemanship training in Malaysia?
I am a 4th year medical student, Malaysian, studying abroad and am not under any scholarships. Do you suggest that I try doing my internship elsewhere instead? Probably migrate out, as it apparently seems that there will be ‘no space’/ overcrowding of doctors in Malaysia.
I heard that Malaysia does not have enough specialists. Could that be true?.
Would you say that the future seems somewhat bleak for future doctors pursuing their career in Malaysia?
they will be paid a salary on contract basis.
It is up to you where you want to do your housemanship.
Yes, we are still short of specialist in government sector.

Hi Doc,
Is the posting during my 4th and 5th degree’s years counted as housemanship?
Of course not!
I’m going to assume you’re just trolling with a question like that. The alternative explanation, that a medic can be ignorant of what horsemanship(sic) is, would be far too unbearable! *shudder*
Obviously NO
Hi Dr Paga,
I’m not sure if I’m in the right place to ask these questions..
I would like to know about the differences between master in public health (MPH) and master of medical science in public health (MMedscPH)?
And what is the job prospects for an epidiomiologist in Malaysia?
BTW, I’m a final year medical student who recently developed keen interest in public Heath.
Looking forward to hear from you doc! Thanks in advance
Master in Public Health is for doctors only, which makes you a Public Health Specialist. MMedScPh can be done by anyone , including non medical personnel with any bachelor degree. It is mainly a research based degree.
Epidimiologist is a subspecialty of Public Health. In MOH, it is all the same.
Good day Dr Pagalavan.
Would like to ask regarding the pathway of majoring in psychiatry. I am currently in my 3rd posting of my housemanship. Not sure how does it go. Would really appreciate it if you could guide me through. Thank you
The only option is Master’s program after 2 years of MOship. MRCPsych is also possible but exams are not conducted in Malaysia. You need to go to UK to sit for the exams. However, I am not very sure what the procedure is.
Dear Dr,
I am a foreigner who married to Malaysian. I have completed my housemanship 2 years in Malaysia and unfortunately started this year government has stopped hiring contract Dr. I have applied for my Full Registration number however it was withhold until now as MMC told me that Full Registration Number will only be given once u get ur continuation of contract. But we all know that no more contract Dr will be hired. Does it mean that I will never get my Full Registration Number although I have completed my housemanship?
Looking forward to hear from you Dr, thanks in advance.
Since you are a foreigner, you need to prove offer of employment to receive full registration and APC.
Thank you Dr, do you know if its still allowed. Im Malaysian and. My fiancé is a foreigner. We’re not quite sure where to go from here.
Unfortunately it is very difficult/almost impossible to get a post for foreigners now even if you are married to Malaysian. But you can try the university hospitals.
Hi , good evening. I wanted to find out how you managed to do your housemanship in Malaysia as a foreigner. I urgently need advice
You use to be able to do it till about 2014, especially if you are married to Malaysian.
i am a foreign medical student please i want to ask if possible for me to write norway medical licensing exam and if possible how can i go aboutit

Hi Doctor!
I am foreigner final year medical student studying at melaka Manipal Medical college and planning to married to my Malaysian partner. Is it still possible for me to get housemanship in Malaysia after I married to Malaysian ?? Thank you so much
Unfortubately, based on MOH circular in 2016 and from what I know, they have stopped providing housemanship to foreigners since 2015, even if you are married to Malaysian. You must understand that MOH do not even have enough post for Malaysians.
Good evening Dr. I’m doing my housmansip now and interested to pursue MRCP Part 1. Would be grateful if you could guide on the do’s and don’ts. Thanks
