Dear Dr,
first of all i would like to thank you a zillion times for explaining, advising, insisting certain things that rookie or prospective medical students could consider entering in such a tough field. Lucky I am to realize these things earlier before i started to choose my path to tertiary education. even i am from an above average middle class family with three working brothers where my parents could afford to pay for my medical studies and i could get PTPTN for sure i didn’t want to do so because in the end i am the one who is going to pay my RM 150K debt. I did my share of research about the life of a doctor in term of happiness, family relationships, salary and workloads. I found that it is such a miserable way for doctors to live like that. All there was just depression and tension. I doubt when a doctor smiles to greet the patient, is it from his heart ?
I really feel so sorry for the sacrifices that a doctor must make to pay his debts and work for his bonding for his entire life. When my family turn up against my choice to study engineering i felt like i have had enough in explaining all the pros and cons. so i stood up against my parents idea and i made up my mind that i am gonna study what i like and what my passion is and what can sustain my life and bring me forth to better future. i applied for Mechanical Engineering in Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS majoring in Deep water Technology. Now my parents realize that my decision to carve my future is good for me. even i have some debt with PTPTN, i have the plan to settle it with my higher CGPA, where discounts would be given. eventually with the non repayable bursaries i received twice from YAYASAN PETRONAS i can reduce my debt alot. now i understand how to choose my career.
