Greetings Dr. My name is Vivien, a 4th year medical student currently studying in Leeds University, UK. I’ve read some articles from your blog and would like to seek for your advice.
I would like to know, if I come back to Malaysia after completing my FY1 in UK and obtain a provisional GMC license, do I have to redo a year of housemanship in Malaysia? Or I can continue on the second year of housemanship in Malaysia?
If I come back to Malaysia after completing my entire housemanship (FY1 + FY2) in UK and obtain a full GMC license, do I have to redo the housemanship programme in Malaysia or I can serve as a MO?

Firstly it depends on MMC. Generally they will ask you to do rotation which you did not ot do in UK. However, with limited post available for doctors now, it is better for you to complete all postings in UK before coming home. There is no guarantee you will get a job in Malaysia, especially in KKM but you can try university hospitals.
