When I read this, I can’t believe it. Why is the MOH so protective of the HOs, when so many issues surrounding them have arised?
They are playing politics. They are saying that those who work overtime after their shift duty will be paid RM 100 but there is no clarrification about how many hours overtime etc. Need to wait for the circular. Sometimes, statements like this may not even materialise.
They very well know that soon graduates may not even get a job. So, give them something now and take it away later!
We are seeing these politicians making history. Ten years later (maybe later), the future generations will ask why no one do anything about it. The politicians are just going to ignore that plea and tell them off as then the supply of doctors are more than fastfood outlets.
It is more even as we speak.
Is it going to be implemented or its just on the paper? Is it really necessary?
You have to wait for the circular. Politicians sometimes, infact most of the time confused!
haha.. nice and interesting cartoon.. 🙂
Whether they implement is not important because honeymoon only last 2 years.
The honeymoon for HOs last 2 years? Then it is hell for patients, cause with that substandard, they will determine patient’s outcome..
I feel so sad and worried for patients…..
Nice 1 sir………,
i was talking to my former prof., it seems that the SPA does not have the money to sustain the new overflow HO/MO, so by 2014, we will work as contract workers……..
“in my mind, i was already thinking of joining pharmaceutical company or get another job, business, teaching tuition etc……” swt swt swt……..
Nice 1 sir,……
i was talking with my former prof, it seems by 2014, we will work as contract workers because SPA does not have the money to sustain the overflow of new HO/MO, when she told me that “i was already thinking of getting another job, joining pharmaceutical company, become a tuition teacher, business etc”…..
i also might not stay long in this country, as future as a doctor not clear…..sad sad sad……….
i love Malaysia, it’s a nice country, but i HATE the government management system, they should put people will qualified management skill in the ministry not some idiot without management background etc……
as usual, the malaysian political system….. sooner 1 day they will consume them-self for the mistake they done……..
I can tell you know it won’t be transparent as to who gets those contract posts. Preference will be given to public uni students and sponsored students, with the reason being that the govt needs to recoup their ‘investment’ in these students. The rest will go jobless and be begging to be given a contract in Tawau, Bintulu, etc.
I heard that they have already started to appoint HO by contract! Not sure how true but David Quek has mentioned the same.
Some stupid clerk in Ministry of Higher Education who know nuts about medicine is approving all these medical schools.
doctor becoming jobless??WOW,could that be a reality?…it seems very severe if not treated now, lets do something other than talking..any suggestion?
There is nothing special about doctors! Doctors have become jobless in other countries, so why can’t it happen in Malaysia.
What currently working doctor could do to prevent jobless doctor situation? Is it just complaining or discussing here without action?
The discussion here is to create awareness to the public and the authorities. Probably you should suggest some ideas of what to do.

The above comment from the houseman is better than others. He described well the HO life and he enjoyed the hardship and the best thing is he NEVER complained above his job.
Any medical student and junior HO should have a read.
why not, all the respectful doctors of the government write a letter or show their concern over this issue to the ministry of health or send a brief report to the media so that the issue will be spread among the public people.
secondly, please take any step to control the advertisement which recruiting student to unrecognized or recognized medical school …at least MMC can do something on it…( are they (MMC) afraid to student recruiting agent also beside to the ministry???)
election is coming soon…im sure if we correctly channel this problem , we can overcome this issue. BN has to agree with the peoples demands.
this is really a serious matter, if the people in the right position never take any action then future medical students life will be at risk! please do something..
Have you noticed that many complains about housemen etc only appears in The Sun? This is because the main stream newspaper do not report anything that paints a negative picture about the country. I have had written letters( not about medical) before to the Star but it never gets published. All main stream newspapers are controlled by our political parties.
Ministry of health is well aware of this issue, MMA has brought up this issue many times with MOH. Remember, the government is not obliged to provide job for all graduates. There is nothing special about doctors as far as they are concerned. The government buraeucracy is just too complex.
MMC can’t do anything about advertisement. Anyone who pays the advert fee can publich anything as long as it is approved by Lembaga Iklan negara.
That is what BN is doing right now! People are demanding a doctor in every family and BN is just doing that!
I am more worried about patient’s life. The gov and the medical schools never promised a job for all graduates.
Dr Paga you could try to publish all articles in The Malaysian insider (www.themalaysianinsider.com) the most read online news portal.
Please contact : editor@themalaysianinsider.com
Yes, thinking about it.
come on doctor…quickly contact the media people and ask them to publish all of your articles in the newspaper so that more SIGNIFICANT number of people will read and understand this issues including current doctors in this country who might not bother this issue.
Give pressure to the ministry and MMC as well because they are the authorities. No point of being part of the MMC but not doing anything great to solve this.Publish your article…send them to the important persons and to the people who could do something great with this issue.
If most of the people in this country know this, then the government will take some action because they do not want to be blamed and they want people to vote them….COME ON..you can do it…you have good position, many contacts and appropriate attitude and awareness about this…lets start very quickly..raise this issue up to national level everyday for things to get better…

Advice from a medical officer
Where’s the best place to do housemanship training?to avoid such cases like above link from the star…Any suggestion?
I think everywhere is the same now due to the glut. The smaller the number of housemen, the better. IT is all up to the housemen now to learn as much as he/she willing to.
